What did Luceco do?
When Ardent Electrical embarked on their latest project at Carnegie Library in Herne Hill, which required an upgrade to its existing old fluorescent lighting, they enlisted Luceco to deliver a sustainable, cost effective and energy saving lighting solution that met the brief for this picturesque, Grade II listed building.
What problem did Luceco solve?
Standing proudly since 1906, Carnegie Library has been the cornerstone of the Herne Hill community for decades. With its grand architectural and period features, the challenge was to future-proof the building’s lighting system in a way that was both sympathetic to the building and cost-effective.
What products did Luceco supply?
Luceco Project Manager, Ben Cartwright explains,
“It was great to collaborate with Ardent Electrical and provide a high-performance Luceco lighting solution for this project. The central main library area had bespoke ceiling cavities and, as it is a listed building, we needed to be incredibly careful where new lighting would be installed, for example, using existing suspension points. We had to find a linear system that would exactly match the dimensions of the cavities.
“After an initial survey, we recommended the Luceco Contour Range - specifically the Luceco Contour Suspended linear lighting with 90-degree angle corner joints – providing downward illumination with a choice of either an opal or micro-prism polycarbonate diffuser to emit gentle, balanced, and low glare lighting, making it ideal for the library space.
“Luceco Contour Wall lights provided a wall-mounted luminaire option with an up/down wall washing effect, 70% downlight and 30% upward.”
To further meet the lighting needs of the library, suspended luminaires in the form of the Luceco Litera were installed, providing seamless integration, low power consumption, and high performance, along with the Luceco Academy surface linear range.
Going beyond just the product offering, Luceco were also able to provide Ardent Electricals’ client, Lambeth Council with return on investment documentation showing substantial savings on their monthly energy and maintenance bill.
Why did the customer choose Luceco?
A spokesperson for Ardent Electrical comments,
“Having worked with Luceco before, we have been consistently impressed, and we knew we could rely on their trusted expertise and efficiency for this project. Their expertise in finding energy saving solutions where we could clearly demonstrate to our client, reduced energy consumption, lower maintenance requirements and extended product lifespan, ensured peace of mind and a sustainable solution for the library.”
