Project Location: County Durham

What did Luceco do?
When the North East Learning Trust required a lighting upgrade for the Hermitage Academy multi use games area (MUGA), Luceco delivered with a cost-effective solution using innovative lighting technology.
What problem did Luceco solve?
Since joining the Trust, the Hermitage Academy in County Durham has benefitted from a programme of rapid improvements and physical upgrades in a makeover that has seen classrooms and common areas completely transformed into bright, fresh spaces conducive to learning.
As part of these improvements, a new lighting solution was required for the academy’s sports area, due to the failure of old technology floodlights and expensive light source replacements.
What products did Luceco supply?
Following a comprehensive site survey and design proposal to establish the client’s specific requirements, including assessing the various types of sports and activities taking place on the site, Luceco specified the Amnis Floodlight - offering outstanding performance, efficiency and reliability.
Built to last with 100,000 hours lifetime and pioneering the latest in aerofoil heat-sink systems, the Amnis Floodlight delivers unmatched efficiency.
Utilising unique LED reflector design to give improved optical control whilst reducing glare. High Performance Multi-Die LEDs for direct replacement of 1 and 2KW floodlights and Alanod ™ MIRO-Silver Reflector optics for stable performance and unrivalled reliability, perfect for outdoor and sporting grounds settings.
Why did the customer choose Luceco?
North East Learning Trust Mechanical & Electrical Engineer, Adam King explains,
“The MUGA sports pitch is obviously a much-loved part of the academy and presented us with a great opportunity to look for a more economic and energy-saving solution as well as a significant upgrade to the quality of the lighting.”
Adam King comments,
“We’ve been impressed by Luceco’s ability to provide an energy efficient and cost-effective lighting solution - the finished space has been transformed.”
Luceco Project Manager, Leman Harris comments,
“Meeting the client’s lighting specification for this project, we were able to resolve the issue of high-cost replacement of expensive lighting components and meet the challenge of improving lighting levels at the MUGA pitch, whilst also controlling light pollution to residential areas on the property perimeter.
“It has been great to work with The North East Learning Trust on our very first project with them and to deliver a fantastic lighting solution. We hope the staff and students enjoy the space for years to come.”
