When the Joint Industry Board (JIB) embarked on a major refurbishment of its headquarters, Luceco was selected as the lighting partner to deliver a modern, high-impact scheme across two floors of office and communal space — balancing visual impact, performance, and budget.
Illuminating a new standard
The Joint Industry Board (JIB) plays a pivotal role within the UK electrical industry, setting employment standards, grading structures, training requirements and pay rates for electricians and electrical contractors nationwide. As a pillar of the electrical community, its headquarters refurbishment required a lighting solution that reflected its professionalism and forward-thinking approach.
JIB appointed leading electrical contractor, J Brand to deliver the electrical works, who in turn recommended Luceco as lighting partner. Collaborating closely with Workspace Creations, Luceco developed a lighting design aligned to the project’s defined look and feel brief, ensuring the finished scheme complemented the new interior vision.
Delivering impact within constraints
The project involved designing and supplying lighting for two full floors of office accommodation, including communal areas. Working within strict budget parameters and tight timeframes, the challenge was to create an installation that not only met functional requirements but also delivered a genuine ‘wow factor’.
Luceco provided a carefully curated range of luminaires, combining aesthetic appeal with performance and reliability:
The comprehensive product package included:
| Suspended Contour | A contemporary suspended linear solution, delivering clean lines and architectural impact while providing uniform, high-quality illumination across open-plan office environments. |
| Platinum Surface Downlights | Offering a sleek, modern finish with efficient light output, ideal for circulation spaces and breakout areas. |
| LBX Panels | High-performance LED panels designed to provide balanced, low-glare illumination, supporting comfortable working conditions throughout office spaces. |
| Platinum and Mini Downlights | Compact, versatile fittings used to enhance feature areas and provide layered lighting throughout the scheme. |
| Celest Bulkheads | Robust and reliable luminaires suited to ancillary and transitional spaces, maintaining consistency across the project. |
By combining multiple product families, Luceco delivered a cohesive lighting scheme that supports productivity, enhances visual comfort and reinforces the modern identity of the refurbished headquarters.
Supporting the electrical community
As an organisation dedicated to protecting and promoting standards across the electrical industry, JIB represents one of the sector’s most influential bodies. Luceco’s involvement in the project demonstrates its continued commitment to supporting the industry it serves - aligning closely with its strategy to Grow, Innovate and Sustain.
Through strong contractor partnerships, design expertise and a comprehensive product portfolio, Luceco was able to provide a solution that met aesthetic ambitions while remaining commercially viable and programme-conscious.
Ben Smith, Regional Manager Southern Projects at Luceco said, ‘This project is particularly significant for us. The Joint Industry Board is central to maintaining standards across the electrical sector, so to be selected as the lighting partner for their headquarters refurbishment is something we’re extremely proud of. By working collaboratively with J Brand and Workspace Creations, we delivered a scheme that balances design impact, performance and value - exactly what the brief demanded.’
Dean Hedges, J Brand said, ‘We recommended Luceco to JIB because we trust their product quality and technical support. They worked closely with the wider project team to interpret the design brief and deliver a lighting solution that not only meets the functional requirements of a modern office but also enhances the overall aesthetic of the space.’
With the project completed in December 2025, the refurbished JIB headquarters now benefits from a contemporary lighting environment befitting its status at the heart of the UK’s electrical industry.
