What did Luceco do?
Journey Campus is a Cambridge-based state-of-the-art life sciences hub, consisting of nine innovation workspaces boasting fully fitted laboratories and collaborative office space.
What problem did Luceco solve?
5 Journey Campus, going through a major refurbishment, required lighting for a multitude of dynamic spaces; from scientific laboratories and liquid nitrogen and gas stores, to meeting and board rooms, break out areas and a modern cafe. The full project proposal covered multiple bespoke lighting solutions across external, internal and emergency on our Platform fully wireless lighting control system.
The client required separately-metered energy monitoring to satisfy part L of building regulations, and control of a fully automated remote emergency monitoring system.

Why did the customer choose Luceco?
Craig Wren, Director of KRB Installations, who managed the full electrical delivery at 5 Journey Campus, comments:
“5 Journey Campus was a large and technically challenging project. The design process took several months, so there were many amendments to the scope and functionality of the lighting. Luceco worked closely with us to ensure that the client’s vision for the space was realised and that they had all the functionality required from the lighting control system. We are very impressed with Luceco’s service and dedication to finishing the project successfully and would certainly work with them again.”
Ben Smith, Regional Sales Manager – Southern Projects, comments:
“This was a truly exciting project to be involved in. It was great to combine delivery of the architect’s vision for how the finished spaces should look and feel with a technically compliant installation. Deploying the Platform system across this large building, which utilises energy monitoring, remote emergency monitoring, occupancy/absence, daylight harvesting and heat-mapping, was both challenging and rewarding. We look forward to working with Journey Campus and KRB Installations again soon.”
