LUCECO DRIVES PREMIUM LIGHTING TRANSFORMATION AT BERRY BMW & MINI CHISWICK

Client Name: Berry Group

Project Location: Chiswick

Project Manager: Ben Smith

What did Luceco do?

Luceco played a central role in the £5 million refurbishment of Berry Group’s flagship BMW & MINI showroom in Chiswick, delivering a complete lighting solution that meets the exacting standards of one of the world’s most prestigious automotive brands.

What problem did Luceco solve?

Berry Group, a leading automotive dealership group in the South of England, undertook a major investment to transform its Chiswick site into a flagship retail destination for BMW and MINI customers. With brand presentation, customer experience and technical compliance all under scrutiny, lighting was a critical component of the project.

Working in partnership with consultant Octave Design Services and architect Taylor Design, Luceco developed a fully compliant lighting specification aligned to BMW’s rigorous franchise requirements. The brief demanded strict adherence to visual consistency, uniformity and prescribed lux levels across all areas – from showroom floors to workshops and exterior spaces.

What products did Luceco supply?

Luceco was responsible for the design and supply of lighting across the entire site, including:

  • Showroom display areas
  • Offices and customer lounges
  • Workshops and high-traffic service zones
  • Parts storage facilities
  • External and perimeter areas

Each environment required a tailored approach, balancing aesthetics, performance and durability.

The comprehensive product package included:

Suspended Contour Delivering clean architectural lines and uniform illumination across showroom display areas.
Track Lighting Providing focused accent lighting to highlight key vehicle features and enhance visual merchandising.
Platinum Surface Downlights, Platinum/Mini Downlights and Platinum Darklights Ensuring controlled, low-glare illumination in customer-facing spaces.
LBX Panels Offering balanced, high-performance lighting for offices and back-of-house environments.
Carbon and F Type Downlights Supporting a refined, high-end aesthetic throughout feature areas.
Ceres High Bays Providing powerful, efficient illumination within workshop areas.
Climate Anti-Lig Installed in high-traffic service zones, combining durability with performance.
Atlas, Celest and Tempus Bulkheads Delivering robust and reliable lighting solutions for circulation and external areas.
Decorative Exit Blades Integrating safety compliance seamlessly into the overall design scheme.

By carefully coordinating multiple product families, Luceco ensured visual continuity across the dealership while meeting the strict technical parameters set by the BMW franchise.

Why did the customer choose Luceco?

Automotive showrooms demand more than illumination – they require lighting that enhances vehicle presentation, creates a premium retail atmosphere and delivers absolute consistency across large, open spaces.

Through early collaboration and detailed design coordination, Luceco successfully resolved the challenge of working within a tightly defined specification without compromising on design intent or performance. The result is a high-impact, energy-efficient lighting scheme that elevates both the customer experience and the working environment for staff.

As a high-profile project for a blue-chip automotive brand, the Berry BMW & MINI Chiswick refurbishment represents a significant milestone. It reflects Luceco’s continued commitment to delivering innovative, specification-led solutions that support its strategy to Grow, Innovate and Sustain – strengthening relationships with major end users while showcasing the depth and versatility of its product portfolio.

Ben Smith, Regional Manager Southern Projects at Luceco said:

“Flagship automotive projects demand absolute attention to detail. The lighting must enhance the brand, showcase the vehicles perfectly and comply with strict franchise guidelines. Working alongside Octave Design Services and Taylor Design, we delivered a fully integrated solution across every part of the site – from the showroom floor to the workshops and external areas. We’re proud to have supported Berry Group on such a prestigious development.”

The transformed Berry BMW & MINI Chiswick showroom now stands as a benchmark retail environment – underpinned by a lighting scheme designed to perform as impressively as the vehicles it showcases.
